Why is there a refueling stop in Mukalla?
As there are no refueling facilities at Socotra Airport, a short technical stopover is made in Mukalla on the return flight to Jeddah.
This takes about 45 minutes and is solely for refueling. Passengers remain on board throughout – there is no disembarkation and no entry formalities.
Mukalla is a regional airport on the south coast of Yemen and is regularly used for domestic flights. It is operated by local authorities and has been considered stable in recent years. As passengers do not leave the aircraft, this is merely a routine flight operation and not an actual stopover. For passengers, it is simply a short break before continuing their flight to Jeddah.
